Crazy Monkey Alaska opened in 2011. As a founding member of the US trainers program in 2005, we trained for 6 years and were ready to share it, to empower our friends and neighbors to live happier, healthier, safer lives through training and community. Regardless of your reason for starting, we will design a training program that meets your needs and delivers your goals in your pursuit of personal mastery! Crazy Monkey Alaska provides a unique approach to modern martial arts training. Our focus is to provide challenging, fun, but most of all functional programs where our clients can explore and expand their potential to transform their lives. Too often new starters can be put off by unwelcoming attitudes and unsafe practices in the pursuit of practical martial arts, combat sports and self-defense training. Our approach is real world boxing, kickboxing and Brazilian jiujitsu as well as functional fitness just taught from a different syllabus and mindset: we pride ourselves on our practical-mindful-playful approach and our strength based coaching model. This means we are always committed to your safety and growth. We coach you to use your martial arts practice as a vehicle for growth in your wider lives and careers. We welcome beginners and those who may not have exercised seriously for many years, or those who have recovered from serious illness or injury. Our program thrives when beginners can train alongside experienced athletes, who have been where they are starting their journey . Whether you are interested in martial arts, health and fitness, mindful movement or practical self-defense, we have classes that will meet your needs. We firmly believe that a person’s ability to defend himself or herself is far more predicated on their healthy outlook to life and the way that they approach it. Building mental game and emotional resilience through martial arts and fitness training is far more important in a person’s everyday life, than self-preservation skills we hope they are never called upon to use.
